The Girls

I used to keep two Irian Jaya carpet pythons as pets until I moved to New York City in September 2010. Sadly, I had to find new homes for them, as possession of any member of the genus Python in the city is strictly verboten. As you can see in the picture to the left, she was small enough to fit in my hand as a baby. She weighted about two ounces. In the picture to the right, she has undergone the usual color change as she became an adult. She is about four to five feet here, and will probably gain another foot or two as her final adult size. She's incredibly gentle, and I've taken her to an elementary school and a middle school to show students. Many student touched her, and a few were even brave enough to hold her.
